Our Senior Design (AAE 450) Project: (August 2021 - December 2021)

During my 8th semester of undergrad, I had the privilege of working with 8 of my peers on developing a proposal for a satellite swarm. The goal of which was to observe the patterns of global soil properties for agricultural, meteorological, and environmental science applications.

My primary focus was on the space environment, owning the Thermal, Debris, and Radiation portions of the proposal and hardware design. I also was part of the vendor outreach effort, helping source hardware manufacturers and launch providers.

One of the vehicles we chose to launch our constellation on was the Minotaur I rocket series, a vehicle which I ended up working on shortly after graduation. It's a small world!

Objectives:

Understand processes that link terrestrial water, energy, and carbon cycles
Estimate global water and energy fluxes at the land surface
Quantify net carbon flux in boreal landscapes
Enhance weather and climate forecast skill
Develop improved flood prediction and drought monitoring capability
